چکیده
Abstract Introduction Bariatric surgery produces superior weight loss and reversal of comorbidities in morbidly obese individuals compared to medical therapy alone. Laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (LRYGB) was traditionally considered prolonged remission T2DM other procedures such as Sleeve-Gastrectomy (LSG). But recently published studies seek disprove this by emphasising on duration severity before rather than the type procedure. We aim verify if operation (LRYGB Vs LSG) influence rates. Method In retrospective cohort study, 204 patients were diagnosed with pre-operatively had undergone either LRYGB or LSG. used Individualised Metabolic Surgery Score (IMSS) tool divide into mild, moderate, severe categories. Results showed that 15% (n = 31) mild disease, 62%( n 127) moderate disease 23% 46) disease. Remission rates each category follows: Conclusions agree longstanding have low after bariatric surgery, probably due diminished beta-cell reserve. It is contrary recent publications which recommend LSG over This evidence necessitates further prospective deciding best procedure for T2DM.

متن کاملRoux-en-Y Gastric Bypass Versus Medical Treatment for Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in Obese Patients
The aim of the study is to compare Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) surgery versus medical treatment for type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in obese patients.Bariatric surgery can achieve remission of T2DM in obese patients. RYGB surgery has been performed as one of the most common surgical treatment options for obese patients with T2DM, but the efficacy of RYGB surgery comparing with medical treat...
متن کاملEffectiveness and safety of laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus
Gastric bypass may be conducted to aid in glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). The aim of the present study was to investigate the clinical results of diabetes remission and metabolic syndrome in individuals with T2DM after undergoing a gastric bypass. A total of 85 patients (39 men and 46 women) with T2DM underwent laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (LRYGB). Data...
متن کاملAchalasia after bariatric Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery reversal
Achalasia is a rare esophageal motility disorder that is characterized by a loss of peristalsis in the distal esophagus and failure of lower esophageal sphincter relaxation. The risk of developing esophageal motility disorders, including achalasia, following bariatric surgery is controversial and differs based on the type of surgery. Most of the reported cases occurred with laparoscopic adjusta...
متن کاملThree-year result of efficacy for type 2 diabetes mellitus control between laparoscopic duodenojejunal bypass compared with laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass
Purpose The mechanism by which bariatric surgery facilitates diabetic control is still unknown. Duodenojejunal bypass supports the foregut theory; however, its efficacy when used alone is not yet established. Methods During the period from January 2008 to December 2009, patients who underwent laparoscopic duodenojejunal bypass (LDJB) or laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (LRYGB) for type 2...
